We need have no fear of someone who loves us perfectly; his perfect love for us eliminates all dread of what he might do to us. If we are afraid, it is for fear of what he might do to us and shows that we are not fully convinced that he really loves us(1JOHN 4:18 NLT)
Greetings Beloved.
Do you have fear in your heart towards what may happen to you when you die? Are you afraid of the judgment that is coming to everyone at the end of time? God's word tells us that fear in the heart of anyone is as a result of fear of what God may do to him, fear of being punished by God. God's word goes on to tell us that whoever fears is not fully convinced that He really loves him.
Fear comes with punishment. You are afraid because you know you have not done enough to please God, You have not lived good lives, You have not kept his commandments. The surprising thing is that it's not like you don't want to do those good things but that you just can't find yourself doing them. It is the punishment for not being able to do these things that grips your heart of what God may do to you.
But God tells us this morning, that his perfect love for us cast out all manner of fear of what He may do to us.(punishment). I write to you that you may have the conviction that God loves you beyond any wrongdoings or weakness that is ongoing in your life. He is interested in Your understanding of his perfect love for you than he is in wanting to punish you for any offence you might have committed.
Gods perfect love for you and the world is Jesus. The punishment you dread for not meeting his standards He poured on Jesus. Jesus is the punishment for your sins and this is God's perfect love for you. There is no fear in perfect love. This awesome love of God(sacrifice of Jesus) should take away any kind of fear of punishment in your heart because The Father has commenced his love towards you in that while you were yet a sinner God gave up Jesus to die for you (Rom. 5:8)
He is a loving Father you should be proud of and not be afraid of. Accept his love for you by believing His word that says He really loves you. The punishment you fear was placed on Jesus who willingly took it on your account. Why not be greatful instead of fearful?
